What is Salem all about?

At Salem Lutheran Church, is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) <http://www.elca.org> and the North Carolina Synod <http://www.nclutheran.org>.  What do Lutherans believe? <http://www.elca.org/What-We-Believe.aspx>

Salem Lutheran Church is located in a fast-growing rural/suburban area near the town of Salisbury, N.C., providing many ministry opportunities and challenges. Our vision is to be a thriving, vibrant model of Lutheran witness for the 21st century.

We want to help each person grow in relationship with God, discover and use individual special gifts and talents, and reach out to the community and world with God's truth and love.

Though a large congregation, Salem offers varied opportunities for small group interaction and fellowship. These include Bible study groups, women’s circles, Lutheran Men, youth groups, senior fellowship, choirs, a praise band and many others. See Small Group Ministries (link).

We have two different styles of Sunday worship. Both incorporate prayer and the reading of Scripture.
The 8:30 a.m. Salem Spirit gathering is casual and contemporary using guitars, keyboard, bass and drums. It is held the second and fourth Sundays of each month.

The traditional-liturgical worship service is held at 10:30 a.m. every Sunday. The service follows the liturgical settings of the Evangelical Lutheran Worship book.

Sunday school, our primary time for Christian Education for all ages, takes place on Sunday mornings from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. We believe strongly that parents, with the help of the church, have the greatest opportunity to impact the faith decisions of their children. It is the role of each member of Salem to encourage and support families in faith-building.

Check our youth and family programs and activities. A major goal of Salem is to help our young people develop into passionate, devoted followers of Christ.

The Salem congregation believes strongly in outreach to the community and world. There are many opportunities to serve God through caring and loving outreach ministries.
